JPA full interview

JPA interview today. The interviewers consisted of two guys from JPA and some engineer. All were Malays and this is Panel 3!!! There were 7 in my group:

1. Teluk Anson guy from sam min(back from NS)
2.Indian guy from KK.
3.PGS girl wore green+yellow kebaya
4. chinese girl applying for chemical engineering
5. ME!!!! from Sam tet!
6. Blazer librarian girl
7. AMC girl with pink kebaya

. So, this is my recap:

Selamat petang.....jika tanya dalam BM , jawab dalam BM, jika dalam BI jawab dalam BI, introduce yourself:
My name is Foong you Sheng. i graduated from SMJK Sam Tet. I scored 11A's and 1B for Chinese is my SPM. I am a school debator in my f4 and f5, i represented my school for public speaking. I have a passion for art and design. I like everything that involves creativity and innovation. I chose architecture as i always had the love and passion for Art. Being a Science student, i always found it hard to find the balance between art and science and i believe Architecture is the path for me. I wilsh to study in UK as i get inspired by buildings in Europe such as the Colosseum in Rome and The Eiffel Tower in Paris. I know Malaysia has the Petronas Twin Towers but i want to build buildings that are iconic like the Birds nest in China for the recent Olympics.

Mat rempit sekarang menjadi isu. Apa pandangan semua?
(i was 3rd to answer). Bagi menyelesaikan masalah ini, kita patut lihat punca masalah ini. Saya rasa keluarga kini mengabaikan anak-anak mereka kerena bekerja. Untuk menyelesaikan masalah ini, saya rasa keluarga lah yang memainkan peranan yang penting. kaunseling juga penting. Ibu bapa tidak seharusnya mengunakan alasan sibuk dengan kerja .

Jabatan kemalangan ada mengadakan kempen bagi menyedarkan remaja supaya memandu dengan cermat. Macam ada kempen yang mengenai kesan kemalangan. mcm Kepala tiada...Untuk menyedarkan Mat rempit ini, kita harus membuat kempen juga.

What do you think about education in Malaysia?
Everything has room for improvement. Even countries like UK and Aus are famous for edu but i believe that everything has room to improve. Being a Science stream student, i feel that students should be given the freedom to choose their subjects. Like, my school only allow us to take all BIo, Chemis and Fizik. If we were given the choice of subjects based on our interest , that would be better.(why the look from the panel thinks that i keluar tajuk?? OMG)

lifestyle abroad. what do you think?
here, i started to kek gei. I believe that no matter who you are, you need to adapt like a chameleon in order to succeed. Its like I'am an Asian and i can bring my Asian values and practice it in other countries.(then i gek jor....)....I am an Asian right???(OMG)

if i can choose only 1 from 7 of you all to go abroad? who should i pick?
everybody picked themself. Someone said: we have to be selfish sometimes.

i said, this is like a horse race. May the best wins.

If i offer you the scholarship on Bio tech which is different from your choice, will you accept it?
No.I belive that everyone has their own passion and interest. For me, I am passionate about architecture and i will fight till the very end for that. In life, sometimes, there are many obstacles and challenges but i have to fight through it to achieve my dream. If that does not work out, i just have to choose another path. I believe in taking risks. If i want to succeed, i need to take risks. I am a teen right? Watching shows like American Idol i learnt from the contestants that if you have a dream, you have to fight for it. these people are willing to sacrifice everything for their dream and take risks. For me, i won't accept it as its not my interest. I do not want to waste my place for something i am not interested in. I rather give it to somebody who wants it more.

Men are generally more lazy than girls!!!! Give your comments.(what???)

I disagree. My friends are like so hardworking. it actualy depends on your interest in the end but lest say i have friends who enjoy studying History and excel in that. some men are lazy but we cannot say in general that all Men are lazy.

but itu hanya sebilangan. Those who are hardworking may just be a handful.
well, it depends on their interest in the end. If one is interested in engineering, he will be hardworking as it is his passion.

Studying abroad may change your lifestyle or some may experience culture shock. What do you think?
I believe that as along as we learn from other cultures and apply it , thats great. lets say as an Asian, I can practice my Asian lifestyle abroad and for that people could respect me for staying true to my roots. Its all about learning from others and applying it back in M'sia.

Using ICT in education. Give your opinion.
I believe that ICT is great but spending to time in front of the moniter may tire your eyes. Thats why its okay to have some entertainment as we can look for knowledge for 20 minutes and maybe listen to songs or watch a video for 5 minutes. Thus, we can be rejunevated and fresh and can learn more.

what videos do you watch then?
I go to You tube and watch shows like American Idol and dramas.



Thats all. Well after the interview, we all were relieved. i thought we worked well as a team. Everyone had the chance to give their opinons. But unlike some friends of mine and my fellow group, i was seldom interupted by the panel.Is thsi a good sign? Dunno and after we came out the girls told me:" You talked alot, of course la,...debator wor...say your English not good...you spoke well.....You and the san min guy spoke so much....when you gave your intro, i forget what to say jor.....i see you also scared to give my opinion."

i though i did Ok...76 out of 100. i wish i could be slower and more steady.
